Do you have experience working with children with special needs, and do you enjoy an active one-to-one role? Then you could become an important source of support for a 9-year-old boy who loves movement, play and safe, predictable routines. About the role You will provide regular one-to-one support for a 9-year-old boy with autism and an intellectual disability. He needs close support, clear structure and a calm approach that helps create predictability. The boy is energetic, enjoys being active and particularly likes outdoor play, trips to the playground and running in the woods. He also enjoys activities such as puzzles, music, bubbles, balloons and sensory toys. Your role is to plan and take part in activities that match his pace and needs. As he has limited awareness of danger, it is important that you stay close to him and remain attentive to his surroundings. The role includes assistance with personal care, including bathing, changing diapers and toilet training. You will also provide support at mealtimes, with a focus on motivating and guiding him towards gradually becoming more independent. The boy does not communicate verbally and uses only a few English words. It is therefore important that you are able to communicate in English, including with his parents, who do not speak Danish. The boy has food allergies and has an EpiPen, which must be used in the event of an allergic reaction. The family will provide thorough instructions on its use. He also has asthma, and his parents are responsible for all medication management. About you You may be a qualified pedagogue/social educator or have relevant experience working with children with special needs. You approach the child with calmness, patience and clarity, and you enjoy an active working environment where you take part in play and physical activities. At the same time, you are able to create structure and a sense of security, be attentive and provide clear boundaries when needed. As communication with the family takes place in English, you must be able to communicate confidently in English. A driving licence is an advantage. Alternatively, you must be comfortable using the family’s cargo bike, which will be provided. Working hours The position is for 16 hours per week. The working hours are: Two weekdays per week: 3 hours after school, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm Thursdays: 9:30 am to 1:30 pm (4 hours) Sundays: 11:00 am to 5:00 pm What we offer You will become part of a family-owned company with many dedicated employees. Salary and pension are provided in accordance with the national collective agreement between FOA and the Danish Chamber of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv). You are covered by DUOS’ liability and occupational injury insurance, and health insurance is included as part of your pension scheme.
